Beach clean up
Here at plasticfreeproducts.co.uk we are committed to doing our bit and we regularly complete sweeps of our favourite beaches and collect as much waste as possible, and we see its mainly plastic! Our favourite spot is in North Wales and we often get our kids to help, they find it fun and it educates them in the importance of plastic waste and the need to muck in and do their bit too!
We will share pictures and stories of events throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled on our Instagram account!
Record numbers of volunteers recently have made the Great British Beach Clean the UK's biggest ever coastal clean up. Here are some of the key facts and figures released by the Marine Conservation Society on recent events:
This year's Great British Beach Clean saw almost 15,000 volunteers pick up 8550kg of litter from beaches across the UK. That’s about three times as heavy as the tongue of a blue whale.
The top three most common types of litter collected were: plastics/polystyrene pieces, glass and cigarette stubs.
It's not possible to tell where almost half (49 per cent) of the litter collected came from because it had broken down into such tiny pieces.
